COACHING/MENTORING FOR SERVICES SELECTION BOARD (SSB) /FACING ANY INTERVIEW

The SSB is one of the toughest challenges in any of the competitive exams in the country. Getting through SSB is itself a great success. The SSB aims to find out the officer like qualities in an individual which consists of leadership skills, strong interaction, quick decision making, communication skills, judgment under difficult conditions, the ability to reason and organize self confidence, exemplary bravery, strong determination and above all a sense of duty and loyalty to the nation. In the SSB the Indian Armed Forces are looking for an acceptable candidate possessing ingredients of a well adjusted person/personality and officer like qualities.

The personality of a candidate is assessed by three different assessors viz the Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO) and Psychologist. The various tests are of IO, GTO and Psychologist are designed to bring out the presence/absence of Officer Like Qualities and their trainability in a candidate.

  • (a) The Psychological Tests are written tests that are conducted by a Psychologist.
  • (b) The Group Tests are interactive indoor and outdoor tests conducted by GTO. Active physical participation from candidate is expected.
  • (c) The Interview involves a personal conversation with IO.

Similarly facing an interview for recruitment in other services/jobs it brings joy and relief. Many candidates come out successfully. Others fail there.
